Current Volunteer Work
Type 1 Diabetes Blog writer.
Kitchen volunteer for Chabad Byron on High Holy Days cooking and feeding event attendees (up to 160 people).
Volunteer web administrator for Insulin for Life Australia, which is a not-for-profit organisation that collects and distributes insulin and other diabetes supplies that would otherwise be wasted, and send these to diabetes organisations 3rd world countries which have an agreed protocol. Ron Raab, President. The work also incorporates answering all web-origin emails, participating in campaigns like The Big Blue Test Day, promoting IFLs activities on social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Australian Ambassador for the Diabetes Hands Foundation
Webmaster for the Low Carb for Diabetes site, with content by Ron Raab. Ron describes his personal experience with adopting the low-carb/moderate protein/moderate fat regime, and presents other evidence and references to support and urge others with diabetes to investigate the regime and to try it (after checking with their doctor, of course). Ron is a long-time friend and relative by marriage and it was a pleasure to design and to maintain this site. I have also adopted this regime for months at a time and I can attest that it definitely works to bring about more level and normal blood sugars. Take a look!

Volunteering can be lots of fun and very satisfying. If you only help one other person on this planet, it's surely worth it!
